Stories with Dice
Stories with Dice is an actual-play podcast where a fellowship of everyday gamers explores fantastical worlds, distant futures, and parallel realities through tabletop role-playing games (TTRPGs) from Free League Publishing, Chaosium, Modiphius Entertainment, and more.
Over the years, we’ve told stories around our virtual table in the worlds of Tales from the Loop, Pendragon, Mutant Year Zero, Star Trek Adventures, The One Ring, The Electric State, Forbidden Lands, Legend of the Five Rings, and Symbaroum. Going forward, we’re focusing on a smaller lineup of games, giving us more opportunities to return to each story sooner. As campaigns reach their natural conclusions, we’ll add new stories from the worlds of Twilight: 2000, Vampire: The Masquerade, The Walking Dead, and more.
We’re not voice actors, professional entertainers, or trained performers—just friends from around the globe sharing virtual dice, stories, and a laugh or two as the game unfolds.

SPEAKER_05Another year, another decade, in the wonderful world of Tales from the Leap. I am joined as ever by these lot. Marco, hi. Hello.
SPEAKER_02I know we kind of missed a session. We missed a session. I should have been recording like a half hour ago, as Saul mentioned, because we were on a roll making some making some laughs.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, maybe we should just record all this and just have some raw footage to kind of like give to people. We should. B-roll? Is that what we call it? B-roll, yeah. Yeah. That'd be quite cool. We are joined by Douglas. Hello. Tony? Hello. How are you? Who is joining us from a completely different continent, which we're very grateful for. I mean, he goes away, flies over the equator, and he still joins us for a podcast.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, must be insane. I love you, Betty Matt's guys.
SPEAKER_05So, what you've just done is you've elevated what everybody else has to do, including the challenge. Sol for Pete. Hi yeah. How are you? Yep, not too bad. Cool. And Sol.
SPEAKER_00Cross Siberia to get here.
SPEAKER_05I mean, this is true. We saw the pictures, it's true. We saw some cool stuff that Sol was doing for LARPing. So you always seem to somehow manage to kind of either you've kind of trailed all the pictures of the of the various LARP events and go, I'll have those. But they always look pretty cool.
SPEAKER_00Whether it's cowboy stuff or it's it's just part of the LARP scene. You turn up, you go through all of that, and I'm not gonna lie, it's a joy to get the awesome pictures at the end. We should I feel like we'll do that, but I'm a bit old. Really set the scene for a nice snowy, but we're not even it's not snowy at the minute.
SPEAKER_05It's not snowy, it's it's summer and lovely and nice.
SPEAKER_00Well, can we make it snow? You can do tiny whimey.
SPEAKER_05Timey, whimey stuff. I mean, how hard can it be, really? This GM Malarke is is pretty straightforward. So when we left off last session, we had Anders and Johannes, who had gone to see Dr. Karen Holt to figure out what on earth was going on when one of these white vans turned up and Johannes and Anders legged it. In the meantime, Anthony and Susie went to go back to the hideout to find out exactly what was going on with Sven and Joe. And I can't remember what the reason you actually pushed the button was. Oh, because they'd gone missing.
SPEAKER_02I don't remember the reason other than there was a dinosaur. There isn't a button that Anthony wouldn't.
SPEAKER_05I mean, yes, there was a dinosaur, wasn't there, yes.
SPEAKER_02There was a dinosaur, yes, but Anthony loves to push buttons. He's a demon in an elevator. I think in more ways than one this season.
SPEAKER_05You pushed the button and you ended up in the past with Sven and your brother Joe, who for some reason were almost naked. They were in their tidy whities. And covered in mud and sort of like bits of grass and stuff, and you all heard something approaching in this jungle. You pushed the button again, damn you, Anthony. And you appeared outside your hideout, except the hideout wasn't all sort of like abandoned and broken down. It was fully functional factory with a car park and everything. And people coming out of the factory in sort of like suits and and sort of like fedora hats, you kind of looked around, they looked at you. And saw two kids in their underwear. Saw two kids in their in their underwear, two other kids in weird-looking clothing, and both of them sort of like scarpet pretty quickly. That is where we start. In the car park, next to a car that looks like it's uh some kind of Skoda or something, very much in a style that you remember from old TV shows set in the 40s and 50s.
SPEAKER_02God, is that I think we're in the past, and we don't even have a DeLorean. DeLorean, didn't you ever see Back to the Future?
SPEAKER_06Is that the is that the nerdy movie?
SPEAKER_00This is Soul's brain hurting. I know you just did the whole recap, but I was trying to remember exactly how we got here. There's the weird-looking cars in the factory, isn't there? Yeah. Ed, this is this is making my head go already. Uh and obviously Susie isn't saying those things words for words, because that was very much soul saying that, but I I think her heads are in her head is in her hands, and she is so confused about what on earth is going on.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, so you're sort of like looking at your the hideout that you that you had that was all kind of like deba dilapidated, which is not at the moment. Yeah, you kind of look and see these weird cars and they're just not what you're used to. There is also a stencil on the outside of the factory, and it has the name of a Swedish motor manufacturer on the outside that I don't know. Do any of you have actually Anders is the one that might probably know this, but he's not here. Yeah, it's a company name.
SPEAKER_02Joe, should I should I push the button again?
SPEAKER_01No, no, no, no, no, no, no. Don't press the button again. That's what got us here. Well, how do we get out? We don't have we don't have a time machine. There must be a way, surely. I'm gonna be late for dinner. You're gonna be you're gonna be late for your own birthday or early. Well, the loop still exists, right? Even now. That's a good question, Ed. Is there a loop? It would be.
SPEAKER_05Well, you you look around for a for a loop. There is a lot of trees that block your view to the uh the passage that goes between this island and the next, so you you can't see it.
SPEAKER_02Should we go to the Well, first of all, we gotta get these guys closed. They can't be walking around in their fruit of the looms.
SPEAKER_05As you say that, a gentleman has clearly been alerted to a bunch of weirdos in the car park, a bunch of weird kids at the car park. And he's wearing sort of overalls, which are quite clean. He's got this the this the same name as the company on the side called Scanier Vibus, and he says, Oi, you kids, what are you doing here?
SPEAKER_02We're time traveling. Why are you saying this? Shut up.
SPEAKER_00It's like this is going on. I will have passed one of the uh slightly cold kids for my denim jacket. So I've got my because I've got like a jumper on. Okay. So I can pass a denim jacket to one and maybe an oversized jumper to another, and I'm just in a t-shirt now a little bit.
SPEAKER_05He says you shouldn't be here. This is a restricted area. What's your names? Come on, tell me. And he kind of like strides towards you. I'm Marty McFly. He says, Marty, I'm not very happy with you. Also, where are you from? He says, He's been speaking Swedish. You presumably you return in the words in Swedish anyway. You've got your American accent. Yeah, Anthony's Anthony's bilingual because his mom is Swedish. Yeah. So he he says, Marty and who else?
SPEAKER_02And he basically points at Susie. I point to Joe and I say, This is Dark Brown.
SPEAKER_00I'm Lola and starts looking around. Fence gate. He kind of looks, you says, now, don't be silly.
SPEAKER_05And he looks he looks at Sven, Sven's the oldest looking one here. And although Joe is probably older than you, by just a short bit, you probably look older than him. He says, Now come on, tell me where you live, and I'll speak to your parents.
SPEAKER_06Do I gather where we are? Are we back in our town and list?
SPEAKER_05Yeah, you can see that that you're actually looking at the hideout, but the hideout is not all broken down. It's actually like it probably was.
SPEAKER_02It's a fully functioning car.
SPEAKER_05Fully functioning little little factory of small, it looks like some small media Swedish uh manufacturing specializing in bus parts and stuff and maybe cars. Jesus. What was that?
SPEAKER_02Something one of my things is felled out. Spare me one second. Ed's house is falling apart for those sitting at home. It's because you stepped on a butterfly.
SPEAKER_05I told you not to do that. Right, my picture fell down. Sorry about that, guys. I'm leaving that in. Yeah, leave it in. That'd be great.
SPEAKER_06I'm gonna say I'm taking care of these kids, you know. Just showing them around and you know, taking care of them. I don't know if today is uh I don't have no clue. But I'm gonna be like, I'm gonna pose like I'm the oldest and leading these these children around, even though I don't look very proper because I'm half naked, but yeah, is it summer?
SPEAKER_05Is it summer? Maybe you could do that in summer. He says, maybe you could do that in your trousers.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, well, I mean, I was hot, whatever you want. I mean, don't judge me.
SPEAKER_05And there is there is a there is a lady present. He he points to uh Susie.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, sure. Right. No, don't mind us and just we are gonna go our way. I'm gonna call it like, boys, kiss, let's go.
SPEAKER_05He cut kind of steps back. You all can feel the hairs rising on your uh on your neck and your hair. You can feel a crackle happening in the uh in the air. And he kind of like takes a few steps back. Joe says, My god, it's going, it's going, it's gonna happen again, he says.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, and I push the kids back away from this guy, whoever this is.
SPEAKER_02Yep. I wave at the guy and say, Bye, this is our DeLorean taking us home.
SPEAKER_05You then suddenly feel this really warm shot of air kind of washing over you, and then you hear a crack noise, and you kind of blink for a second, and you look back, and you're standing exactly where you were standing before, except this is your this is your hideout, it's the same factory, but it's all broken down as it was before.
SPEAKER_06So we are not we are still in our town, but not our town.
SPEAKER_02Sounds like it sounds like we're back in our time, but potentially. Right, Ed? Sure, but how would you know?
SPEAKER_06I'm just trying to figure out if there is any store or anything around, newspapers, you know, like a binary. Good point. We can check the data.
SPEAKER_05Not not where you are here, but maybe you could go into your uh into your hideout. You might be able to find stuff there. I mean, clearly if you find all the DD books and stuff, then you're in the right place. So let's do that. But what if we go in there and we see ourselves?
SPEAKER_06Well, like the world end. Well, at least you will have somebody to play DD with, right?
SPEAKER_02Yourself. That's so mean, Sven, but that's a really good point. Let's go.
SPEAKER_05And does so you've basically run out the back of the house. Where are you planning to go? What are you planning to do? We were gonna go back to the others. So, yeah, in that case, you've kind of made your way to the hideout. Is that where you were gonna meet them? I expect so, yeah.
SPEAKER_03Get to the last thing we knew was they were heading to the hideout.
SPEAKER_05Was that that's the last thing we saw then? Yeah, that that's true. Okay, yes, you make your way to the hideout. You get to the hideout, and as you get to the hideout, you hear this large crack noise and a flash of light, and then you kind of come through the trees and you can see your hideout. You can also see Sven in a jumper and a pair of tight whiteys covered in mud. Joe is wearing a jacket with also covered in mud and some pants, and then you've also got Anthony and Susie kind of like following up the rear as they're heading towards the inside of the uh hideout.
SPEAKER_03So they just appeared in a flash of light and a big bang. Yes. Yeah, kind of. Alright. Is that maybe some of that some of the stuff that Dr. Holt was talking about? Like the bad stuff. The what was it she's specifically wording? Was it like fluctuations or something? Like she said there was something going on. Uh so she said one second. I just wasn't paying too much attention. She's not at all. She had something about like the world end, like everything like twisting up and the timeline being destroyed.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, yeah, that's correct. She mentioned things about temporal resonance. She said that she wanted to try and prevent a catastrophic collapse. She was saying that she said that the per the people that she that they that they had used to do the experiments with had temporal resilience, which is why they were using these kids.
SPEAKER_03And it was a risk to be close to them because of this stuff, this temporal resonance.
SPEAKER_05She said that, yeah, if you get close to them, then obviously you are at risk of going with them or potentially being lost within the temporal resonance. And she thinks that what she needs to do is she needs to sort of close the gate which is in the facility. But she hasn't been able to do that, but she needs Joe to do that. But she wasn't the one who started it, she has taken over from the last person who did it. She's trying to clean up someone's messes, basically. That's that's exactly it. Allegedly. Allegedly, allegedly what she has told us. Yes, and so that's that that's the kind of information that you had.
SPEAKER_03Fair enough. Sure why spend that's missing their trousers, but I'm sure they'll be able to explain to it. Shall we go in, Anders? Do we want to get too close?
SPEAKER_04Remember what she said?
SPEAKER_03But we need Joe to be able to like put a stop to this. So we kind of have to put ourselves at risk, and we'll have to get the other guys away as well. Because they're at risk by being close to him. No, we'll have to we'll have to go and talk to them, because the only way we're gonna be able to persuade Joe to go along with his plan, and well, we can't exactly bring people to our hideout to take Joe away.
SPEAKER_04No, but we've got to get him to hand himself in if that's the way it goes.
SPEAKER_03Well, or at least go along with Dr. Holt. I feel like she was a bit she was a bit cagey about talking to the actual Rick's energy people, I felt like she kind of wanted to keep this on the lowdown tour. Because I think we I we I think I'd pointed that out and she was a bit cagey about that. I it's are you right, Anders? I think it's a risk, but I think it's a risk we're gonna have to take for now. But be on your guard in case for weirdness.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, let's say if something weird starts happening, we get away from away from him.
SPEAKER_03True. Yeah. And try and get the other guys away as well. Right, shall we go?
SPEAKER_05Okay, good. So Anthony. Susie. Stan and Joe. You get to the the hideout. It's like 20 steps and you're there. Hopefully Sven's got a change of clothing.
SPEAKER_02Um I think I might have like a Superman costume somewhere in the in the in the hideout.
SPEAKER_05And it's probably has like a a set of overalls somewhere.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah. The original branding of the company probably on them.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. It's surprisingly similar, yeah. Okay, yeah. Well you uh you were all together. What's the plan?
SPEAKER_03So anything interesting happened while we were away?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah, you'll never you'll never guess. Something to do with temporal resonance? We traveled, dude. We traveled into the past and to the like the time of the dinosaurs, and and then to the 19, like I don't know, like the 50s, I guess? Like everyone was wearing fedoras, and then we came here. It was like we had our own little DeLorean in my pocket. The one now? DeLorean. It's not a car. Yes. How have you guys not seen Back to the Future?
SPEAKER_03Well, I've seen it. Uh sold it to some people. There's a couple of VHSs of it to some folks from a year back. No. Yeah, uh it was it was the silvery car. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. The doors that open upward. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05I mean, there's golden doors, definitely gonna catch on.
SPEAKER_03While this is going on, Jonas is just kind of like looking over at Joe. Just to see what he's up to.
SPEAKER_05Joe's managed to find like an uh an old cloth and he's kind of like rubbing off the mud and dirt and stuff from his bare legs and sort of like chest and stuff. He's handed back the uh the jacket back to Susie.
SPEAKER_03Okay. So when all this time traveling stuff was happening, was it happening around your brother when you were close to him?
SPEAKER_02Well, I think that's how Sven and Joe ended up in the time of the dinosaurs, yeah. But I did it by pushing the button. What button? On this little device, and I hold it out for him and show him. Now put it on the table. Right now. Tell us about it. Put it on the table. Put it back in- I put it back in my pocket. Well, I'm sorry, Douglas. What'd you say?
SPEAKER_03Sorry. No, I was I was blocking it for sweat. She yeah, she didn't mention the recall devices. So where did you get that from, Anthony?
SPEAKER_02It was in the lining of my brother's jacket. I found it last I want to say last year, but no, it was like six months ago.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. Six months ago. Joe says, Yeah.
SPEAKER_03You found it in my jacket? Yeah. But how long's your brother been missing? I thought it would be in a while. Like a year and a half or something? And how was it in his pocket? Did he did you have this before you went taken away, Joe? I thought I'd lost my jacket.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I found it. Where did you find it? I don't remember. Huh. I don't remember giving you a a button. It was like hidden, sewn into the lining of the jacket. You didn't give it to me. I don't remember that. Somebody put it there. Maybe dad put it there. That's weird. That's very weird. I don't remember that at all. Maybe we've changed time. Maybe we've changed history. Oh no, we've altered the timeline. Sorry. I got bit distracted there. It's like City on the Edge of Forever. Yes.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Bad news. The world's aren't going to come to an end, apparently. Because of your brother. Well, that's ridiculous. No, we we went and uh spoke to Dr. Holt. You know, the woman from the um the the the ID app. Oh, yes. She says I I I I remember Holt. Yeah. And she she explained everything to she was quite amiable.
SPEAKER_02You're gonna take her word for it? The lady who like kidnapped my brother and a bunch of other kids?
SPEAKER_03Well, from what I gather, that was a bunch of military people, is that right, Joe?
SPEAKER_05Yeah, yeah. There were some guys in in the States, I think they were from uh DARPA or something. And how do you know she doesn't work for them?
SPEAKER_02Oh, because she told you.
SPEAKER_05Well. I remember seeing her, but when I when I came back through the rift, and I was in a different gate. Maybe.
SPEAKER_03Yes, that's right. Um, there's one in America and there's one here, apparently. I guess that makes sense. But anyway, beside the point, apparently someone somewhere has messed up something royally, which is causing the entirety of time to sort of crunch up in itself in a ball or something. I I just do you remember, Andrews, what exactly she said? It was bad. Yeah, like like one of them sci fi movies. Yeah. But anyway, she said that time's gonna rip itself apart. That's it. That was the wording she used. But there is a way to fix it. However, we need to get Joe near the gate. How am I gonna get to the gate? Me and Anders. Some serious negotiations, I feel like we've made on the crusp of making a deal in which Joan Halt will save the day, and then at the end of it, Joe, you get to go back with Anthony and your family, and everyone wins. Oh. That doesn't sound too bad. Yeah, I think she's not she seems a bit worried about Rick's energy people finding out about any of this. Or she's kind of wanting to do it underneath without them seeing, because I think she's in as much trouble as we are. Apparently, though, if we don't do anything to resolve this, all the superflight things we've been seeing, like the time loops, the dinosaurs, that is probably going to get worse. Doesn't sound good. Russ Doctor Who when you need him.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, Joe says. I love that show. Yeah, Tom Baker's the best.
SPEAKER_05Okay, so let's go find Holt.
SPEAKER_03Well, we've got a phone, we've got our phone number here. We can call her to meet us somewhere. Because unfortunately, when in the middle of our negotiations, rather one of the guys turned up and did we actually see the guy in the van out? I can't remember.
SPEAKER_05I think you did see the guy in the van. He looked like this.
SPEAKER_03Yes, because I remember he is familiar to some people, so I will describe this guy to the others. Yeah. Turned up.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, wearing sort of like this heavy set guy, sort of like in his late fifties, beard, wearing this set of grey overalls. He's got a face for radio.
SPEAKER_00He does. And is it one of those weirdos we saw at the pizza place? Does that sound like him? Sounds like him.
SPEAKER_03He was driving around in a white van.
SPEAKER_00Yes, the guy we got we kicked out got kicked out of the pizza place, right?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah.
unknownAnyway.
SPEAKER_03But uh guy. Well, as soon as he turned us language. As soon as he turned up, Holt wanted us out of the way. So wherever she's wanting work she's wanting to do with us, she does not want him to know about.
SPEAKER_02Well, that's what she says. I don't know if I believe her yet. I've I have not met her. Well, okay, Anthony, what's your plan? I don't know.
SPEAKER_03Uh yep. I thought so.
SPEAKER_02Hey, hey, I I I'm I'm okay with this plan, but Joe and I have to meet this lady and get a feel for her. And if if we get the a bad vibe, all bets are off. I just got my brother back. There's no way I'm sending him back to the body.
SPEAKER_03And then what, Anthony? What do we do then?
SPEAKER_02I don't know. They'll figure it out. We'll figure it out.
SPEAKER_03Before or after the world ends, Anthony. Yeah, how do you even know that that's real? This lady could be full of I'm sorry, did we just repeat the last two days? Is that a normal occurrence? Was the dinosaur that turned up in the garage that I almost got killed by? That happens every single week? No, but that doesn't mean the world is ending. He's just gonna give Anthony a look like, really? That doesn't seem a business like world-ending. Cats and dogs getting on together. Doesn't seem right. Alacran is sticking up for another three more years.
SPEAKER_05Joe kind of like rubs his hair. Says, well, yeah, maybe we need to speak to her. Maybe we need to kind of maybe get us in.
SPEAKER_02We can totally speak to her, that's cool. I don't have anything against that. Do we know where we need to go? Well we have to arrange that.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Okay. And I know you don't want to, Anthony, but it might be worth getting your dad involved. Because he works at the loop. He might be able to help us get in there. Dad works there, Joe says.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, they they transferred him from Boulder, Colorado, after you disappeared. I'm sorry. That's why we're in Sweden. We've been over this, Joe.
SPEAKER_05Sorry. Well when I when I go through that process, it makes my head it makes my head hurt when I go through that process and I end up finding that I'm in another place, another time, another location. He wipes like some blood away from his nose.
SPEAKER_02Hey Joe, are you okay?
SPEAKER_05No, I get this really like sore pain in my head. You can see there's a vein that's kind of like bulging quite a bit. And uh he rubs it and says, It always happens. I'll be fine, I just need a bit of a rest.
SPEAKER_02Okay, so go lay down. We got a couple of comfy couches over there, and you know, there's a bean bag and take your pick. Yohanness, why don't why don't you why don't you call this lady, doctor? Arrange arrange the meeting. Okay. I will do that.
SPEAKER_05Has anyone got the time? Just go watch his I have a swatch. Okay. Yeah, it looks like it is 8 42 in the morning. In the morning.
SPEAKER_03Wait, what day is it? You can't you can't tell. Now, for me and Anders, does that make sense relative to what we uh Yeah. Then I'm I'll be like, that's not right. We literally left Hangham. Let me see.
SPEAKER_01Whatever. I I I think I've gotta go. I'm gonna grab the like No Susie, you can't you can't go, Susie.
SPEAKER_00Well, why not? I I've I've gotta get back. I've gotta say, uh gotta see my mum. She'll she'll she'll tell me off if not.
SPEAKER_01No, no, no.
SPEAKER_03But You've only been gone a few hours. Have we? Yeah. We left we last saw you like oh four or five hours ago, would it be it? Susie Yeah about that.
SPEAKER_02Susie, Susie, think about it this way. If it's eight o'clock in the morning on the same day that we started out, then that means we've gone we've gone back in time several hours. So our we might be out there in town somewhere, and you don't want to run into yourself. Trust me, I've seen so many movies where that goes bad. So we should stay here. Johannes should make the arrangements with the doctor lady, and we should try to figure out what the date is before we start interacting with people.
SPEAKER_05I mean, technically, Johannes and it should be probably mid-afternoon, late, the early evening, in theory. Early evening, yeah.
SPEAKER_02So something definitely weird has just happened.
SPEAKER_03Well, you guys have been off back and forth in time, so I mean we might have done a butterfly, I don't know.
SPEAKER_00Something definitely weird has happened. We we saw dinosaurs and then strange cars.
SPEAKER_03Anyway, Susie, don't worry, it's just early evening. Like, you can trust me on that.
SPEAKER_00Still coasted dinner, and I think she's she's gonna start to rush out, basically.
SPEAKER_05Okay, that makes sense. Susie! No! Okay. You uh gonna rush out.
SPEAKER_02Has anyone gonna stop Susie? Go let Susie got it. Well, Anthony tried to reason with Susie. He's not gonna like force her to stay.
SPEAKER_06Yeah. Sven is just let her be. Just smoking a ciggy and sitting there. Just looking at these the smart guys thinking about what's gonna happen. Smart?
SPEAKER_02Did Sven's fucking did Sven find clothes or he's still in his underwear?
SPEAKER_06I guess there was something around, like uh old t-shirts and things, I guess.
SPEAKER_05You're currently wearing Susie's old jumper and your underpants. But yeah, you find sort of like this old Halloween costume, maybe. Yeah, an old an old uh Superman Hall Halloween costume, the bottom parts, those are the top parts for you tie around you, unless you want to wear the whole thing.
SPEAKER_06Yeah. Yeah. Probably I will just point out that I might need to go home to get some clothes. Yeah, you should probably go do that, Sven. Okay. So I stand up and we'll go down to get my bike and get out.
SPEAKER_03Okay. Johannes, where are you gonna make this call? Probably from payphone down the road. It'll take a wee while to go and get there. Let me have a thing. Where would be the best place to make the arrangement?
SPEAKER_05So from where you are, there is actually you know there's a payphone behind the school. You also know that there is one sort of instead of going back into Stenhamra, you can go around the outskirts towards the quarry. And you know there is one sort of like in one of the little suburb areas.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Okay. Now, if we're one in a secluded area, quarry is probably a good bet. That seems like suitable. And also it's on our side of town, so we don't have to wander through with Joe past all the vans. Okay. So I will go and so Anthony, Anthony, can I grab you for a second? Just as sort of heads up, your brother's apparently like contaminated with a bunch of temporal stuff. So it might like like some sort of I think like a radiation or something like that. I don't know. She was very smart when she was explaining it, whatever. But apparently, if you're close to him, that can cause problems for yourself. You can get contaminated too. Well, kind of. Kind of may be best if you just keep a bit of distance from your brother, you know? Safe distance.
SPEAKER_02That must be why Sven travelled back in time with him. Sure. Let's go with that. Cool, he's like a walking time machine. Not cool.
SPEAKER_03He's destroying the world. You don't know that. Once again, Johannes just gives Anthony the look.
SPEAKER_04Okay. What's Anders gonna do? He's sitting there trying to decide. Johannes is talking a good game, he's the smart one, he seems to know what's going on. There's a lot of head nodding and just going, no, no, lots of head shaking. He's just hanging back, wait to see if there's something he can dive in and help out with.
SPEAKER_05Well, while you're all doing that, Susie, you kind of make your way home, I'm guessing.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Straight on the bike, propelling as fast as possible, slightly in a mid-panic.
SPEAKER_05Yep. It's that kind of like late afternoon sun as you sort of like cycle home.
SPEAKER_00You get home and I think she's sort of in full panic, doesn't put her bike up properly, just sort of throws it down on the front lawn, hops straight to the door, uses her key, gets in, closes the door behind, and like rushes in and then like sits down at the dining room table just in case.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. Well, it's funny enough, uh, your favourite food is being cooked, and you can hear your mum pottering away in the kitchen.
SPEAKER_02But is it her favourite breakfast food? No.
SPEAKER_05Hi mum! Hi Susie.
SPEAKER_00Do you think you made it just in time? I think those words are just throw Susie off entirely. Just I think she just starts crying, actually.
SPEAKER_05I think it's a full like Your mum comes in and puts her arm around you and gives you a big hug. Oh, what's wrong, dear?
SPEAKER_00Nothing, it's just oh, just feel a little off, that's all. Oh.
SPEAKER_05And she kind of like feels your head for your temperature, and she says, Well, you do feel like you're quite clammy and sweaty. Maybe you should, you know, after dinner, pop into bed and have an early night. Yeah, we'll see how I feel. I'll bring some warm milk for you. And she kind of she sort of gives your your shoulder a bit of a squeeze and then wanders off back to uh the kitchen to kind of potter around. You can hear her sort of like moving things around and getting ready for for the rest of the family to get home and have dinner. Sven, you go home. Are you doing anything particular to get home? Are you kind of avoiding anyone anywhere or are you just just going home?
SPEAKER_06Just taking my bike and go the faster route. It's so you said it's late in the afternoon, right?
SPEAKER_05Yeah, it's late in the afternoon.
SPEAKER_06So my dad should be out already, I guess.
SPEAKER_05He should be. He should he should be out. Yeah, you kind of manage to avoid any of the white vans. They don't appear to be you don't see any of them, and you make your way home, you get home, your dad is not there.
SPEAKER_06Do I see anything that makes me think that he has been at home?
SPEAKER_05Yeah, there's you can see there's some food that's been eaten, you can see that there's sort of like a beer that's been drunk, and there is a newspaper telling you that it's Friday.
SPEAKER_06And this is okay. This is basically the day that we left. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02The day that will never end. The second day that you left.
SPEAKER_06I basically don't know anymore where I am.
SPEAKER_02No.
SPEAKER_06What time is it?
SPEAKER_02This series should have been called Forever Friday. We can still change it.
SPEAKER_05No, we can't. No. Okay. Yeah, you kind of get in. Are you particularly gonna do anything? You can just have to do that.
SPEAKER_06No, I just I just wanna change wash. Well, I will wash myself because I guess I was all full of dinosaur poo. So we'll just get a quick wash in the shower, toss my clothes in the you know, to be clean, and just find my stuff. I hope I have a second leather jacket. If not, I'm gonna be very pissed.
SPEAKER_05Yep. As you've kind of like just sort of finished cleaning up and put some clothes on.
SPEAKER_06So we'll move very sneakily. I guess there is a kind of a window that I can peek through. And you know, we'll try to move it slowly. I just who is calling?
SPEAKER_05So you can see there's a security guy, which you've met before. And there's Johnson, he is knocking at your door.
SPEAKER_06Okay, so this is the guy I remember that came when I told him that my dad was lost. Correct. And this is and this is the right day, right?
SPEAKER_05This is the right day, but the wrong day because that was the first Friday, not the second Friday. Which was still on the second Friday.
SPEAKER_06Okay, so there is no reason for this guy to come in principle. Um check. I will open.
SPEAKER_05Okay. He says, Oh hi Sven. Hello. How are you?
SPEAKER_06I'm good.
SPEAKER_05Something happened with my dad? Well, I wanted to check to see whether or not he'd come home.
SPEAKER_06I haven't seen him, to be honest, but I think he's been around. Has he been at home?
SPEAKER_05I don't know. You contacted me to tell me that he'd gone missing.
SPEAKER_06It's true, it's true. Um but you know, I have a feeling that he must have, you know, I I left for a few you know for a one hour, and he might have come and left. There's some things around.
SPEAKER_05Sorry. You were really worried that he hadn't made it and we were trying to find his car.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, did you find his car? No. Okay, so I must be wrong then. Let me check again. And then I I go inside. Is is there anything really? Was he wrong?
SPEAKER_05Is there anything sorry you cut out?
SPEAKER_06You know, because you you told me that the there were things pointing out that he had been at home. Uh my missing something.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, so you know when you checked this morning, you were worried that he hadn't gone home, but he was home. You found that he had fallen asleep on the sofa, and you basically tidied everything up, and then you were expecting to go back. So but what you're not expecting is Anders, the security guard, to remember the first Friday that you had as opposed to the second Friday. But Anders seems to think that he is still in. So the the first Friday, you were really worried, you're concerned, you phoned up Rick's energy. He anders seems to still think that's what's going on. Okay. As opposed to your second Friday, which is where everything seemed fine in the morning and everything was great.
SPEAKER_06Okay, so either he has trouble in time, or yeah, that that's probably the only logical conclusion, I guess.
SPEAKER_02Or we're all experiencing time differently.
SPEAKER_06And now we go to the advertisements.
SPEAKER_05Sponsored by an out-of-date car manufacturing company.
SPEAKER_06I'm very confused at this moment. That's that's good. Well, I will come out and tell him. To be honest, I don't know what's going on. I he might not have come on.
SPEAKER_05He looks around and he says, but you called me this morning. Did I? You did. You were really worried that your dad had gone missing. You were really concerned that he'd gone missing. Anders, can you tell me what day is today? Today's Friday, and he gives you the date. Uh what Friday? Sorry, what? He says, I don't understand.
SPEAKER_06Okay, okay. Yeah, I'm sorry, I'm just a little bit confused. I'm just wondering if you if in your watch you can tell me what day is today. What date?
SPEAKER_05Yeah, he looks at his watch and says he gives you the same date on the Friday, which I of course, in my infinite wisdom can't remember what the date was, but it's the same Friday that you had previously. Okay. Same date. We'll call it the second.
SPEAKER_06So do I look at Okay, do I do I see any newspaper there from today?
SPEAKER_05You do, yeah. There's a newspaper. I will pick it up.
SPEAKER_06And he's saying the 7th.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, 7th of September.
SPEAKER_06That's what it says. Okay, so we are not on the second Friday. So we are back to the first Friday. Yeah, apparently. Okay, so we'll come out and say, Yes, you're right. Yeah, I was checking the newspaper. Yeah, yeah, I'm sorry, I'm very confused. You know, you bear with me.
SPEAKER_05I understand. You must be really upset that your dad's gone missing.
SPEAKER_06Exactly. Did you say he was home? I don't know. I don't know. I'm and and I I don't know what to say. And I'm I'm I'm sorry. He's not here. I don't know what to do. I'm just freaking out. And I I I'm really right now also Spain is kind of what the fuck is going on? So I kind of look very distressed because I don't know anymore what they is today. Yeah. So I'm hoping to transmit this uneasiness to him.
SPEAKER_05Anders seems to think that you're just really upset at your dad's missing, so he kind of like sits you down, he goes and gets a couple glasses of water, he tells you to take it easy, smoke some weed. He says he says it's been long enough now that he thinks he might want to contact the police to make sure that they can help find him. And he's he's really sorry that he's waited so long, but he has processes and protocols he has to follow. Um threat's energy, so he's gonna do that. He's gonna go straight down to the police station now and get that sorted.
SPEAKER_06And I thank him and J. Just let me know how it goes.
SPEAKER_05Okay. Yeah, he uh he he gets up and heads towards the front door, and he goes out.
SPEAKER_06Okay, so I will try to get some clothes and head back quickly to the hideout with the page newspaper.
SPEAKER_05Okay, so that's you two that have gone, and as the staying put, Johannes, you are going to the callbox to make a phone call. Okay. You make a phone call. The phone rings, and you get a um a lady's voice on the phone. Hello, Karen Holt.
SPEAKER_03Hello, Karen Holt. This is Mr. Pink. Hi, Mr. Pink. How can I help you? We have located our friend. However, it seems to be things are getting worse. Uh sorry, I don't understand. In regards to our discussion we had earlier today, you know, over drinks. Sorry, uh what department do you work for? We're we're consultants. Third-party consultants for Rick's Energy.
SPEAKER_05Okay. And and what drinks for that? Sorry, uh you you've obviously when did we have drinks?
SPEAKER_03It was literally like three hours ago. I will it was at your house at I will give the address.
SPEAKER_05She says, I have just got home. Wait. You said three hours ago. Yes. Wh which department did you say? You were consultant?
SPEAKER_03Yes. This is to do with the current incident relating to the gate project. Do I need to go on any further?
SPEAKER_05You hear sort of like an intake of breath, she says, No, you don't really. I can did you want me to come to the office?
SPEAKER_03We need you to meet us at the quarry, and I give her like the thing. Right, okay. Where we have located the child of interest in relation to the gate project. Okay.
SPEAKER_05Right, okay. I can get the team together. If you give me his location, we can be there within probably an hour, hour and a half. Is he stable? Do we need to subdue him?
SPEAKER_03He's very much not stable, and things are getting worse as we discussed. And what are you still having bad dreams, as we discussed?
SPEAKER_05I I'm I'm I'm I'm Hmm. She says, I'll meet you at the uh location in about an hour and a half. Is that okay?
SPEAKER_03Yes. But come alone.
SPEAKER_05Of course. I'll come alone.
SPEAKER_03No need to get is it Oleg involved? Oleg, I think his name was.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. Olof.
SPEAKER_03Olof.
SPEAKER_05She says, Right, of course. I'll see anyone else there, you won't see any of us. No problem. Good luck. Okay, Mr. Pink.
SPEAKER_03And I hide up.
SPEAKER_05Okay. So I guess that leaves Anthony and Anders back with snoozing Joe at the um hideout.
SPEAKER_02How long should we wait around? Anders, I'm getting really bored.
SPEAKER_04Let's just wait until Johannes gets back. He'll let us know.
SPEAKER_05But he's been gone forever. Look at my watch. Yep, you look at your watch. It says 849 in the evening.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, it does look it's getting quite late. We'll we'll we'll give him another half hour.
SPEAKER_02Well, I wanted to go to Tashi Station and pick up some power converters. A pillow gets thrown at your head from Joe. Shut up with that nonsense. Joe, it's your favorite movie. It's not nonsense. Why don't you um why don't you create a character?
SPEAKER_05I'll give you something to do. I don't wanna. Alright. He says, laying in the on on the sofa in the in the sleeping bag. Gee, and I really wanted to make a uh a halfling fighter thief. Well you know I hate multi-classing.
SPEAKER_00Not only multi-classing, but going for race separate from class. Disgusting.
SPEAKER_05I know, what's that? Some like crazy sort of says uh look. Just we'll we'll wait. I'm sure it'll be fine. My head's feeling much better. Do you have any like pills?
SPEAKER_02Headache pills. I don't know. Andrews, do we have any like aspirin or something?
SPEAKER_04I think there's some in the drawer over there where we keep the sticking plasters and uh and the band-aids.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Yeah, so I'll go I'll go get some aspirin and give it to Joe. Joe kind of like says, people talk funny around here.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, it's called Swedish. You you remember that Joe was never really one to kind of like speak Swedish. He was he was very much why do I need to learn that? I'm never gonna need it. You know, I live in America. I I don't need to speak another language, it's fine. And he he sort of like pops the pills, takes out the drink of water, and he basically picks up one of your books and starts flicking through it.
SPEAKER_02Hey, hey Anders, you want to make a character with us? We could start playing a game while while we wait for Johannes.
SPEAKER_04As long as I can be a fighter.
SPEAKER_02Sure, you can be a fighter. Alright, so I'm gonna I'm grabbing out I'm grabbing the player's handbook and paper some paper and dice and a bunch of pencils and character sheets. He's got the whole pad of you know character sheets and stuff, yep.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, Joe reckons that if he keeps you busy, you'll stop whining and moaning, and you'll basically let time go a lot quicker, which you start to create some characters. As you do that, Giannis, are you gonna head straight back to the um hideout?
SPEAKER_03What time do I think it is now? I mean, do you have a watch? No, I don't, unfortunately. Okay. It's early evening. Yeah. Okay.
SPEAKER_05The sun is just starting to go down.
SPEAKER_03So she said an hour and a half, so. How long would it take me to get back?
SPEAKER_05Um, from where you are, probably 15, 20 minutes.
SPEAKER_03Okay, and then it'll probably take like double that to get to the quarry. Yeah. Okay. Yeah, I'll just head straight back just now.
SPEAKER_05Okay, you head back. What's Susie gonna do, soul? Go to bed.
SPEAKER_00I love it. Susie goes to bed. With hot milk and the dinosaur book on uh like bedside table. Yeah. Although she's not getting much sleep.
SPEAKER_05I'll just lay here and nope.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, exactly.
SPEAKER_05Do you change the time on your watch?
SPEAKER_00Uh Susie doesn't have a watch.
SPEAKER_05Well not using Okay.
SPEAKER_00So I think she's laying down in her bed with like the the alarm clock on her bedside table, just staring at it, basically.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. It just slowly ticks through the time. Is it digital or is it good old-fashioned?
SPEAKER_00This is one of her distraction projects from the last six months. So it is a digital clock that she has programmed.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, so it's slowly ticking up the time towards nine o'clock in the evening. Alright. As you're doing that, when you kind of make your way back to the hideout, which coincidentally is about the same sort of time that Johannes also gets back. You all arrive at the hideout precisely 9.02. At the same time, Susie sees it going, her clock going from 9.01 to 9.02. When Anthony checked his watch, wasn't it like 8 in the morning? No, sorry, I I made a mistake. I thought it was Susie who checked her watch. But yeah, I'm happy for it to be your watch. Your watch said it was 8 in the morning, but it actually wasn't 8 in the morning.
SPEAKER_02Couldn't we have just seen that by looking out a window?
SPEAKER_05Yeah, I mean it's it's been sort of long summer days, so it's yeah. You kind of looked out and were like, oh right, that's not the right time. So obviously when everyone left, they all knew that it was the late afternoon, early evening.
SPEAKER_02Okay, so then we're not all experiencing different times. Sorry, I got confused. Sorry. So my watch is wrong. Your watch is wrong.
SPEAKER_05My swatch. It seems to be telling the wrong time, darn it. Piece of shit swatch. Why do you have to be so angry all the time, says Joe? Yeah, you will kind of come back to the uh apart from poor old Susie, who does not. The rest of you will kind of meet up in the in the hideout, and Joe is now basically found some shorts which he's wearing. They're waiting for you lot. Make a move. What are you gonna do?
SPEAKER_03Anders, Sven, can I grab you guys for a minute downstairs? We'll let you get back to your board game, Anthony. Not a board game, Johannes.
SPEAKER_02Well, you know, he Anders can skip his turn. Expand your mind a little bit. Sure. Whether you need that Johannes.
SPEAKER_03Okay. I've spoken to Dr. Holt, but unfortunately, Anders, I don't think she remembers having the conversation with us a wee while ago, or if we even, with all this time stuff, if we even did have that conversation, if that makes sense.
SPEAKER_06Well, if just realised, because I went back home, that we are actually on Friday 7th, which means we are one week back in time.
SPEAKER_05Sorry. You experienced the first in the first few sessions, you experienced Friday the 7th for the first time, and then when you woke up the next day, it was Friday the 7th for the second time.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that's what that's what he meant by the second time. Still the same day.
SPEAKER_05It's not the second Friday of the month, it's the same day, but it's the second Friday that you have experienced, experienced.
SPEAKER_06We yeah, I don't know, yeah. So everything is a mess or reset, or I don't know anymore.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I think things might be getting worse. Bad news is since she doesn't remember having a conversation with us, it might just be a trap that we're walking into. Okay. Since however, I still think this is probably our best way of resolving the situation. However, I'm not willing to walk our only bargaining chip into the deal where there's a good chance they might just kick us to the ground and just take it. So my plan is me and Anders go to the meeting. Sven and Anthony and Joe stay, go somewhere else. If everything's on the up and up, we will come and meet you, come and meet you with Dr. Holt.
SPEAKER_06I think we should go with you and just try to survive the situation. I mean, you don't want to go there without backup, right?
SPEAKER_03Well, I'd rather that I still ha if something goes south, I still have a chip to bargain with. As in Joe. Well, stay hidden, don't worry. But I want to say what happened.
SPEAKER_04She hide up there.
SPEAKER_03She mentioned an entire team turning up. That could be a lot of people. And she's given an hour and a half to get things set up. Like if I'm doing a deal or this sort of thing, I'm scouting out the area.
SPEAKER_06Well, I still recomm I mean, I think it's it's it's not a bad idea that we go with you and and try to stay out of it. You know, I want to know what happens. I mean, we cannot just be waiting here and not knowing, right? Well, you trust me, don't you, Sven? Panthers? Yeah, of course. It's not a matter of trust, it's more a matter of if we can help you, something goes south.
SPEAKER_03Okay, I I agree. I think you're persuaded to me, Sven. I think it's a good idea. However, the other thing I have to think come up with is there's a lot at stake right now, you might agree. Yes. And Anthony has not been the most team-centric person in the last six months, and his judgment on what is good for the group is somewhat not ideal. He's just a selfies 10-year-old, what do you expect? Exactly. So, well, we're going to do this. I'm we're putting ourselves at risk and whatnot. But there may, if things are going south, we may have to strong arm Anthony and Joe into things they don't necessarily want to do for the betterment of the team.
SPEAKER_06We'll get there.
SPEAKER_03Are you on board with this?
SPEAKER_06Yeah, yeah, fine. Anthony's just a little spoiled kid, so fine. I can handle him.
SPEAKER_03But you guys trust me, this is all for the greater good.
SPEAKER_06Well, I don't really like when people say this, but I will go along.
SPEAKER_03This is for our greater good, the company's greater good. The pharmaceutical.
SPEAKER_04Should we try and get up to the uh quarry as soon as possible? Make sure we're there before they are.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah. Tell you what, me and Sven will go now, and as you go up and grab the guys and get them to follow us, just in case we just get jumped as soon as we turn up.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_03And you know, Anthony will probably want to finish his board game or whatever.
SPEAKER_05As you have that conversation, Susie. You're sitting there staring at the that digital clock of yours, and it turns 8.59, which is three minutes earlier than it just was. I'm gonna like tap it. As you tap it, there's a tap at the window. Wrapping all the covers sort of around my knees. Yep. Staring at the window. Okay, you're staring at the window. You can see there's someone at the window. Who? There appears to be uh you can see a figure outside the window, shock of messy hair, looks like a girl. So the for the for the folks back home, Saul's eyes just got really, really big.
SPEAKER_00I'm gonna I think Susie goes out to the window. Okay. Just to get a better look at whoever this is.
SPEAKER_05You can see yourself on the other side of the window.
SPEAKER_02I knew it. Anthony warned you. Now you're gonna go insane.
SPEAKER_05Open the window. You open the window, you're looking at yourself, and you say, Susie, something's gone wrong. You're not you, you're me, I'm you, but we need your help. You have to come with us, and she sort of like grabs your your wrist because otherwise she looks at you and says, Things are gonna be right and truly shafted.
